Hello

Hello!

Things are going well here in Scottsburg, asides from the weather taking a nose-dive again.
We've had a very  productive week, finding quite a few new investigators! We taught  a man
named Larry, and his family, they're the most progressing, so far. I'd love if you could pray
for them!

This past saturday, the Mission President allowed us to go to Thunder Over Louisville! It's
one of the biggest fireworks displays in the US, to kick off the Derby. I'll send some pictures,
and videos, shortly.

That training sounds pretty good! It's funny, those are the exact same things we're taught about
teaching as missionaries.

I'll write again next week, stay safe!

I'll need to take more pictures!

Hey again! Hope you had a good week! My talk went pretty well, I talked about the importance
of the atonement , and true repentance. I really thought after being a missionary for  this long,
public speaking wouldn't faze me anymore... Apparently not. Our Branch is pretty small, so it
wasn't too bad, thankfully.  The Branch President  invited us over for Easter dinner, so that was
fun. He served in California, on his mission, so we got to exchange stories, for a while.

Speaking of free stuff, I was looking through the apartment the other day, and I found a super
fancy water flosser that a missionary left! They're usually about $70 dollars, so I was more than
happy (it makes a pretty good squirt gun too. (:)

We've been making a lot of appointments with new investigators, so we're pretty busy! Elder
McIntosh and I are going to try visiting  the members around town this week, so we can enlist their
help. It can be pretty difficult to help them understand  that without members supporting the
missionary work, small branches like this are inevitability going to die off.

Well, that's about it for this week, I'll try to get some more pictures for you all, have a great
week!

Love,
Elder Mattinson

I think we'll need to give them a visit.

Thanks for the Easter box!

Scottsburg!

Good morning! Hope you're having fun with softball again! Scottsburg is a very nice town,
albeit pretty small. My new companion is Elder McIntosh, he's pretty cool!
The work has been slow in Scottsburg, so I've been focusing on picking it up a bit. We've
already found a pretty good family to teach! We helped them with some plumbing, and that
helped us get in the door for lessons!  My new address is 257 Harrison street, Scottsburg IN,
47170. Thank you so much for all the boxes! Anyway, tell Grandma & Grandpa there's a letter
coming in the mail, and you all have fun!

Elder Mattinson

Transfer News

Thanks for the update, things are going great, here! I can't  belive I forgot to mention this, but transfers were Saturday, and I'm going to Scottsburg, Indiana! I'm pretty excited for that.
As for that tire, we had a spare, we used to get to a tire shop, so it wasn't that bad. I'm pretty glad Dad taught me how to do that.

I really liked Elder Bednar's talk, too, especially his quote from D&C: Weather to the north, or to the south, east, or to the west, it mattereth not... you cannot go amiss."
It sure is wonderful to know who really leads the missions in the world.
I'l let you know how Indiana is next week, stay safe!

Elder Mattinson

You Won't Believe This

Hello again, things are going pretty well out here! Funny story, we somehow go a key stuck in our tire, so we're sitting at a repair shop as I speak. 😕 the change in the presidency takes place in July, and fun fact, the last mission president, President Woodbury, started the Woodbury School of Business, at UVU, small world, huh? We're watching general conference at the meeting house, so that probably means 10 hours in a suit (yay). Other than that, things have been pretty slow. I'll write again next week, you all stay safe!

Natural Bridge

3/20/2017

Hello everybody! Sorry I'm not writing personal Emails today, but its for a good reason. We're going to spend this P-Day at natural bridge, in Boone national forest. I'll upload a bunch of pictures later, but I figured I would write a quick update!

Things have been good, we had a chance to attend the baptism of one of Elder Smith's investigators in Somerset, which was great! Other than that, it's been pretty good. I'll write again next week, everyone stay safe!

Love,
Elder Mattinson

Happy Saint Pat's!

3/13/2017

I spent a lot of time on exchanges this week, with other missionaries. I went to Lexington with one of the Zone Leaders, and Elder Smith stayed in Mt. Sterling. Throughout the week we found about 7 new people to teach! One of our investigators has had a difficult time giving up smoking, but he really likes the plan of salvation, so we're going to try to help him personally understand that he can quit, and repent.

Thank you for all the help, and support, I'll write again next week!

Elder Mattinson
